New Soccer Club Sliding into Forsyth County
Exciting news for Soccer Lovers in Forsyth County! Futbol Club Sudamerica is bringing an exhilarating new soccer club to the community residing in Forsyth County. While soccer is booming across our communities, there were very limited choices for competitive soccer registration in the county, until now!
FC Sudamerica is not new to the area. Founder and Director, Richard Ortega, has been offering futsal programs and high level training for the last several years to youth who are looking to upgrade their skills and perform better on the field. This training stresses critical thinking and team collaboration. “Parents and players have been asking us to offer more than just clinics because they saw tremendous improvement in their kids’ skill levels after a few sessions in our futsal programs”, Richard expresses. “FC Sudamerica is designed to maximize player potential both on and off the field. We believe in creating Difference Makers so our players utilize what they learned on the field to enhance what they do off the field.”
Richard is originally from Lima, Peru and has over 13 years coaching experience. His background includes coaching top-level teams for Development Academy, Academy, Select, Athena, High School, and Middle School programs for ages U8 to U19. He prides the club on putting together a diverse team of coaches that have experience coaching and playing the right way who also have a high passion for the game. “We have put together a group of talented coaches who want to see the growth in their players and celebrate it”, boasts Richard.
Coach Tennyson James, originally from Jamaica, will be coaching Academy and Select U9-U14. He brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience playing worldwide for the U.S. Army and coaching Recreational and Academy teams in Florida, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Tennyson will also serve as the Director of Operations at FC Sudamerica.
FC Sudamerica will have two locations in Forsyth County. The home location is West Forsyth High School (West Forsyth). The club’s second location is the brand new development at Atlanta Cricket Fields (North Forsyth) on Keith Bridge Road.
FC Sudamerica will consist of both boys and girls Academy (U9-U12) and boys and girls Select/Athena (U13-U19). Tryouts are required and will be held at West Forsyth High School. “The player selection during tryouts will be essential to properly create the right foundation for each team. We want the right players with the right mindsets to join us in this journey. We want our players to be open to our unique club philosophies,” Coach Tennyson adds.
In addition to FC Sudamerica, Coach Ortega is offering a full and half-day summer camp for U9-U17 players. This camp offers advanced training skills to all level players to enhance their personal game through soccer and futsal; a one-of-a-kind training experience. The summer camp will be held at FC Sudamerica’s West Forsyth location.
FC Sudamerica believes in building a strong technical foundation for players through small-sided training and games inspired by futsal. The club’s curriculum was created to develop more technical, intelligent, creative, and confident players.
Coach Ortega and his experienced staff are excited to bring next level training to Forsyth County to be the premier soccer club. “This is our little dream becoming real and we feel privileged to work with the amazing young soccer talent out there”, Coach Ortega said. “What sets us apart is the individual growth we build for each player in our very own collective environment. All of our training is detailed and we want to deliver an appealing style-of-play without compromises.”
