Official Announcement

Dear Futbol Club Sudamerica Families,

As an affiliate member of Georgia Soccer and USYS, Futbol Club Sudamerica is saddened to share the following communications. Our Spring 2020 season, under Georgia Soccer, has been suspended for all ages, all genders, and all levels until April 30, 2020.

At Futbol Club Sudamerica, we want the very best for our members, and while these news are of extreme dissapointment, we hope that it will help our society find peace as well as the opportunity to regroup stronger.

As we gather more details from Georgia Soccer and USYS, we will communicate additional information as soon as possible. For now, all Futbol Club Sudamerica practices and games are being affected by this announcement; therefore, practices and games will not take place until further notice.

From the bottom of our hearts, we are very sorry that this is happening. It is very hard to accept. We will do our best to resume all club operations as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Richard Ortega
President
Futbol Club Sudamerica

RE: Georgia Soccer Response to Coronavirus

March 12, 2020 – With recent actions by US Soccer and with the health of our soccer community remaining our highest priority, effective immediately, we have decided to suspend all affiliated soccer activities through April 30, 2020.

This is an unprecedented and unfortunate situation and we are truly sorry to have to make this announcement.  Georgia Soccer has determined this action is necessary to allow our affiliates and their members to exercise as much caution as possible given the acceleration of this virus not only in our state but across the country.

We will remain vigilant and up to date on the circumstances involving this situation by participating in weekly calls with our governing authorities.

This decision was made in accordance with our governing bodies, information published by local and federal medical professionals, and actions taken by many other large sports organizations.

We recognize the impact this decision will have on the spring season and soccer programs across the state. Georgia Soccer will work diligently, in partnership with our affiliates and their members, to lessen its effects.

Our goal is to resume play as soon as possible. If information and circumstances allow us to resume play prior to April 30, we will immediately communicate that information.

Again, we are truly sorry.

Sincerely,
Russel Rankenburg
President, Georgia Soccer
